A postcard "The Christmas Attempt" depicting an escape attempt by a prisoner from Colditz Oflag IVc during WW2, signed on the reverse by the artist John Watts.

The message on the reverse reads "To Michael Booker, I drew the Christmas Attempt card in November, 1942, when a prisoner in Colditz, 35 years ago. All good wishes, John Watts Nov 1977"

This postcard is not an original but sent to Michael Booker by the person who drew the picture that was used by prisoners of Colditz to send a Christmas card home to their loved ones.
