A rare book parcel address label sent via Raon-sur-Plaine to Colditz in 1944 addressed to the British communist journalist and Second World War POW Giles Romilly.

Giles Romilly was the brother of Esmond Romilly, and nephew of Winston Churchill through his wife Clementine Churchill. Giles was held as a hostage by Adolf Hitler within Colditz Oflag IVc and guarded 24 hours a day. Because of his link to Winston Churchill the Colditz Kommandant was referred to have had 'his head' on his safe-keeping.
